Background

In the desolate wasteland known as the Burn, one would think that there would nothing at all of note to find out there. But what lies below the surface leaves something to admire, though it was quite some time until someone got the idea to start digging there. It was not until about an epoch before the present day when an aging lalafellin gleaner named Orubo Kirubo managed to excavate the derelict Allagan laboratory from the bleached dunes of the Burn. However, as he began to search the lab he found a stasis pod that was still mostly intact and occupied. When he opened it, he found a young lalafellin adult inside, just starting to wake up.When Tosamaka was awoken by Orubo, she was in a state of confusion and took the gleaner for an intruder. Tosamaka attempted to take him out, but it was soon obvious that she was in no position to actually fight with her degraded body and was easily fended off by the older man. The gleaner was able to convince her to stop attacking him and Orubo led Tosamaka out into the Burn to explain what happened since she fell asleep. Tosamaka was left unsure of what to do with herself after learning all that had happened, so Orubo offered to take her under his wing and come back to Old Sharlayan with him. With nowhere else to go, Tosamaka agreed to this and began to travel with him, taking only the clothes on her back and a small accompaniment node that seemed oddly attached to her. The next year was spent exploring various parts of Othard while Tosamaka slowly began to heal from her hibernation. After his business was done, Orubo brought Tosamaka to Old Sharlayan to live with his husband, Popolito Cocolito, where she officially became a citizen.Tosamaka spent several years in the Studium, studying various subjects of the modern era and excelling in her studies while helping Orubo with various gleaner tasks. Eventually, her marks and a keen interest in history, as well as a certain rebellious streak, drew the attention of a senior researcher named Sterrliht Frydtu, a Roegadyn who specialized in studying past empires, particularly Allag (and was also an old friend of Orubo). He offered Tosamaka a position as an assistant researcher, which she accepted happily. Her slowly returning memories and the presence of the Echo proved to be a boon for the Sons of Saint Coinach, providing information to her colleagues that they would otherwise never know. However, around the time of the Calamity, disaster struck. Her mentor was out doing research in Mor Dhona when Dalamud fell and he was killed in the ensuing chaos. Tosamaka would later inherit his signature crimson spectacles and his research. Still, the news of his passing would drive Tosamaka into a depressive episode littered with Echo flashbacks to her previous life, ones that would only begin to pass when her dad suggested to her that she begin traveling like he and Sterrliht used to do. Spurred on by this suggestion, Tosamaka would spend the next several years traveling across the star, learning various styles of combat and craft before finally settling on arcanimia in Limsa Lominsa, and even later returning to Mor Dhona to work with the Sons of Saint Coinach and retrieving her own Summoner soulstone. She stayed there for some time, learning the craft before returning to Sharlayan to properly finish her somanoutical studies and become a sage.These days, Tosamaka has quite a bit on her plate. Most days, when she's not pushing forward her studies into Allag, she is taking on field expeditions to retrieve certain artifacts. She also has recently started to provide support towards rebuilding the Students of Baldesion, notably taking part in the exploration of Eureka, where she met her beloved T-Rex, Marlowe. With all these new experiences under her belt, she plans for an even bigger goal for herself in Sharlayan society: archonship.

Tosamaka has made that field of study her specialization and she's more than happy to talk about her work with those who wish to learn.Colleagues in Arms - Tosamaka sometimes takes on extra jobs from the Forum to search for various artifacts or locations that are related to her field, so she's in and out of Sharlayan a lot. Whether you are a native or simply doing business, chances are you'll catch her by the docks bringing in artifacts or out in the wider world (usually by ruins) on the hunt for information.Archonship - For Sharlayan natives, the path to archonship is known to be fraught with piles upon piles of work. So seeing Tosamaka now sporting a distinctive pair of Archon marks on their neck is definitely a cause for conversation.Strange Company - Tosamaka has some very odd companions that tend to attract some level of attention when she's traveling through the city-states. Maybe you've seen the curious accompaniment node of Allagan design following her in the city. Or perhaps you saw her stopping by the gates, dismounting from a flying, purple T-Rex that is oddly docile around her. Either way, it's quite a sight to see.

- IC =/= OOC. Tosamaka's feelings and opinions are not the same as the player, under any circumstance. If you ever have an issue, feel free to bring it up so we can talk things out.
- I don't have a specific post-length requirement, and will typically try to match any RP partners post length.
- I'm not good with shipping out of the blue unless with it's with close friends. Even then, I would prefer to let relationships fold out naturally before trying to push for anything more intimate.
